Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is wary of the threat Atletico Madrid pose as both team clash in the Champions League semi final on Tuesday. In recent seasons, Atletico Madrid know and have stored Real Madrid’s number as regular customer but that hasn’t translated into Europe where they have been beaten by their neighbors in the last three seasons.
Zidane says their past results against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League will be exactly what will make this clash even more difficult rather than intimidate their opponent.
“I do not believe so — just the opposite,”.
“It was positive for us but this is completely different, another semifinal, and they will do everything to try and get through.
“And we will go out tomorrow to win, not thinking that there is a return leg. We must just think about tomorrow’s game.”
Real Madrid hope to become the first side to lift the Champions League since it’s rename but Zidane says the difference between the two sides is slimmer than Peter Crouch.
“We are not favourites. It is 50-50. Each year Atletico improve, and they always make it difficult for us. They always fight, battle and know their weapons.
“We also have our weapons and we will try and think about our own game. We will try and do something new. We know the small details will decide the game and the tie.”
