Girls and boys from 12 different counties battled it out for national honours on a sun-kissed day.

The 2017 SPAR FAI Primary School 5s Programme was the biggest yet as more than 28,500 children from 1,495 schools took part in county, regional and provincial blitzes nationwide, which is a new record for the programme which has been coordinated by FAI Schools since the mid-1990s.

SPAR FAI Primary School 5s Programme ambassador and former Republic of Ireland International Keith Andrews and Patrick O'Donovan TD Minister of State for Tourism & Sport was amongst those present to support the teams and witness some thrilling games across all six sections.

The schools were divided into provincial representatives from small, medium and large schools divisions.
