The Kilkenny side kept their nerve in a penalty shoot-out with St Mary's, winning 4-3, following a 2-2 draw in what was an entertaining game.

Ahead of their appearance in the upcoming FAI Junior Cup Final, Evergreen made the most of their home advantage in Evergreen Park as they triumphed in the shoot-out.

Penalties were also required at Everton Park and Ballymun United SC, where Everton overcame Liffey Wanderers and Killester United edged past Ballymun United in a Dublin derby.

Bangor Celtic didn't have to go that far but their duel with Cherry Orchard did stretch into extra-time before they did enough to win.

There were also victories for Ballincollig, Cobh Wanderers, Killarney Celtic and Sheriff YC, who join Bluebell United, Crumlin United, Glenville and Portmarnock in the next round.
