Wenger: It will take Lacazette time to settle at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says it may take new signing Alexander Lacazette one or two months to fully adapt into the team. For those who expect anyone Wenger spends so much money on to get firing immediately, Wenger wants them to take a chilled pill. Arsenal fans will hope it won’t take Lacazette as long as it took Yaya Sanogo to adapt – never. The French manager was however impressed by the the former Lyon striker performances in pre-season.

“Overall I think it was an encouraging performance,” Wenger said about Lacazette. “He suffered a little bit from the fact that we were a bit flat, and not dominating enough to get the service. But he was one of the few who had a positive game today.”

He also commented about Lacazette’s knack of being at the right place in the box, evident by the two goals he has scored for Arsenal so far.

“That’s him. To score goals is to be in the right place in the box when the cross comes in and he has that quality,” Wenger said.

“Sometimes it takes a few months, sometimes it takes very little time. The only thing I must say with Lacazette is that week after week he looks to adapt quickly,” Wenger said. “But overall I think it will take him one or two months.”

Lacazette was taken off in the second half, but Wenger said there was no injury concern for the forward.

Mourinho: I could answer Conte in different ways

“I could answer in many different ways but I’m not going to lose my hair to speak about Antonio Conte.”

Hand us the Emirates cup – Sevilla star tells Arsenal

Sevilla player Wissam Ben Yedder has jokingly told Arsenal to hand the Emirates Cup they claimed to have won back Sevilla.  The Gunners won the pre-season tournament despite losing 2-1 to Sevilla in their final match, finishing top after scoring more goals than the Spanish side. Ben Yedder was confused by the tournament rules which saw Sevilla finish as runners-up despite winning  two matches to Arsenal that won just one. If only it took those sort of rules to win the Premier League, maybe Arsenal won’t have gone 14 years without a title.

After Sunday’s match, Ben Yedder took to Twitter writing: ‘We won 2/2 but we are not first… give us back the cup Arsenal ahaha’.
One Arsenal fan then hit back at Ben Yedder prompting the striker to mock the Gunners for missing out on Champions League qualification.
‘Ahahah whose be mad you may get your revenge in Champions Le …… Oh wait’, Ben Yedder tweeted in response.

It was the fifth time Arsenal have lifted the Emirates Cup since the tournament’s inaugural season in 2007.

The message, shared on social media, said: ‘Daniela Ospina and James Rodriguez, parents to Salome Rodriguez Ospina, are making official their separation after six and half years of marriage.
‘It is done in the best possible terms and it is a mutual decision. They’ll maintain a relationship of love and of respect, always with Salome’s well being at heart.’

Mourinho happy with AFCON change

Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has hailed the decision to move the Africa Cup Of Nations from January/February to June/July as fantastic news. The change in scheduling for the Nations Cup was one of several changes to the African football calendar announced by CAF following the symposium in Rabat last week.

“Obviously because it’s hard in the middle of the season to lose players like we do, and with so many African players playing in the best competitions in Europe it’s not good for the clubs, it’s not good for the competitions and it’s not good for the players.”

“So if you can do that and you manage to do the Africa Cup in the European break,” Mourinho concluded, “it’s fantastic for us.”

Manchester have Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly in their ranks.

Bellerin: 3-4-3 has not favoured me

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin says the formation switch to 3-4-3 by Arsene Wenger has not favoured him. Bellerin was Wenger’s first-choice at right-back for nearly three seasons after breaking into the first team but saw his playing time limited after the manager switched to three at the back towards the end of last season, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain preferred at wing-back. They don’t play 3-4-3 at Barcelona, just saying.

“This season is about just making sure that I can hold my spot,” Bellerin told the Arsenal Weekly Podcast. “It’s been a tough season for the club and for me personally as well.

“I’ve been through a few injuries, and changing the system hasn’t favoured me in the last few games. But obviously that is football, nothing comes easy and we have to adapt to every single situation.”

He however says the competition for places will make him a better player.

“It’s really important to have someone in competition for your position. Because that’s the way to make each other a better player,” he said. “Sometimes when you don’t have that competition you can relax and you can feel really comfortable, like I don’t really have to train hard because I’m going to play anyway.

Bellerin joined Arsenal from Barcelona’s academy as a 16-year-old and the La Liga giants have reportedly shown an interest this summer but Arsenal have made it clear that the Spain international isn’t for sale.

Wenger says Arsenal midfielder will play as a centre-back

Arsene Wenger says Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny could be deployed as a centre-back after admitting he has been impressed by his performances in the position against Bayern Munich and Chelsea. With Shkodran Mustafi still to return from Confederations Cup duty with Germany and Gabriel out injured, Elneny has been a makeshift centre-back, a move Wenger intends to make permanent. Since there are over 600 staff to be paid, he can’t afford to buy another centre-back.

Overall, I played players like [Mohamed] Elneny in a back three and he has coped very well,’ Wenger said ahead of the Emirates Cup this weekend. ‘[Ainsley] Maitland-Niles sometimes played at centre back as well, even in the big games against Chelsea.

‘You see their strengths and their weaknesses, and you learn a lot about your players and your combinations too.

‘The advantage we have is that we have a good stability in our squad, so I already know who I can combine with who, more or less.

‘Elneny is a player who has a fantastic mentality and attitude, and his main target is to help the team. When he plays there, of course he does extremely well.
‘I always felt that a good central midfielder can be a good centre back. With the fact of course that when you’re playing in the back four you have to be decisive in the challenges, you have a bit more flexibility in the middle of a back three. He can do that.’

Hazard is not for sale – Conte tells Barca

Antonio Conte has warned Barcelona that Eden Hazard is not for sale, amidst reports the La Liga giants could turn to the Belgian as a replacement for Neymar, if the Brazilian leaves. Conte says Hazard is happy at Chelsea, till his childhood dream comes to the fore – which may be to play for Real Madrid or Barca.

‘He is very happy to stay with us and to play for Chelsea,’ said Conte.

‘I don’ t know anything about this situation.”
‘In the past I read a lot of stories about Hazard with Real Madrid – and now Barcelona. This is the transfer market and we must understand this.’

Hazard, who has three more years on his current contract at Stamford Bridge. has not been part of Chelsea’s pre-season tour due to injury.

‘It is difficult to say when he will be back,’ said Conte. ‘After a bad injury, after ankle surgery, it is not easy to programme the date to come back.’ Conte said about Hazard’s injury

Everyday my son ask me if I will play again – Cazorla opens up about injury troubles

Arsenal diminutive midfielder Santo Cazorla says he does not know when he will return from injury but hopes to be back soon. The Spain international has undergone eight operations in an attempt to solve the problem in his right Achilles.

‘I don’t know how long it will take, but I’m convinced that I’ll be back soon,’ he said.
‘Each time I leave the operating theatre, I think that everything will be fine and I’ll be back again.
‘The doctors have told me that a case like mine is one that they probably won’t see again for a long time as it is unusual for an athlete.

‘I had no strength in my tendon or muscle mass. Every day my son asks me if I will play again because he really wants to see me out on the pitch again and I really hope that it will happen soon.’

The Spaniard has been sidelined through injury since their 6-0 win over Ludogorets in the Champions League in October 2016.

Conte: Bakayoko does not know anything about my football idea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte says it is very important for his players to understand his idea of football. He said the new players Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko have to get used to his idea of football, particularly Bakayoko who is still out injured, he hopes the French midfielder returns to full training soon. It is important the players get his idea of football, else they risk receiving text messages.

‘We hope for them to recover very well,’ added Conte. ‘You know the importance of these players but we will not rush them back.
‘Every player must be in the best form to play otherwise they are put in a bad position which could be damaging for the team.’

‘For me it is very important for the players to understand my idea of football,’ said Conte, speaking in Singapore ahead of their final game of the pre-season tour, against Inter Milan on Saturday.
‘Bakayoko, at the moment, he doesn’t know anything about my idea of football,’ he added. ‘For sure, he needs a bit of time to adapt and understand.
‘This is the great difficulty for a coach that has an idea of football and wants to give an identity.
‘When you sign a player you need a bit of time to bring the player into your idea.
‘It is the same now for Alvaro Morata and for Antonio Rudiger. For sure, if the player arrives as soon as possible, it is easy for me.’

Bakayoko hopes to be available for the London derby against Tottenham, the second fixture of the Premier League campaign.

MNT: Ticket information for upcoming away games

IrelandFans_Austria.jpg

The game against Wales, which will be Ireland's final match in Group D, will be played at the Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff, which has a total capacity of 33,280.

Last December, the FAI reached an agreement with the Football Association of Wales to secure the increased allocation - therefore Ireland supporters will take up more than 10% of the stadium capacity in Cardiff.

The FAI continues to cater for supporters who are regular attendees at away fixtures, coming from the Football Family, Supporters Clubs and Fans' Direct.

The review of the Fans' Direct scheme will be completed at the end of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign with registration open until Friday, August 4 at 5pm.

Under the Away Ticketing Scheme, so far in this qualifying campaign over 4,500 loyal supporters have been supplied with tickets for the draw with Serbia in Belgrade and the victories over Moldova and Austria in Chisinau and Vienna respectively.

Serbia: 1,500 tickets allocated / 642 tickets sold
Moldova: 1,316 tickets allocated / 986 tickets sold
Austria: 3,066 tickets allocated / 3,066 tickets sold

The Away Portal will open to applications for the Georgia v Ireland game on September 2 in Tbilisi from Thursday, July 27 through to Sunday, August 6. The Georgian Football Federation will scan each supporter's ticket to provide accuracy of the supporters who attend the game.

The FAI will continue to use the allocation breakdown that has previously been in operation, as outlined below:

45 per cent distributed to supporters from affiliated football leagues and more than 2,000 clubs which fall under their remit, Board and National Council members, players/staff, Club Ireland members, and Jack Charlton Lounge patrons.

40 per cent allocated to independent supporters who are members of Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporter Clubs and Fans' Direct.

15 per cent provided to supporters travelling with the FAI's official travel partner, Abbey Travel - these supporters have their details of match attendance at away games logged should they ever decide to apply independently for tickets.

Zidane: I want the BBC guys to stay but anything can happen

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane says he wants the BBC guys – Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema to stay, though he admits anything can happen. Bale and Benzema have been linked with an exit from the Madrid club, to make way for Kylian Mbappe – who may join Madrid in a world record deal. The French coach was also coy on the likelihood of Mbappe joining Madrid.

“Let’s hope that all of the members of the ‘BBC’ stay here,” Zidane told Madrid’s official website. “I want the ‘BBC’ to stay put, it’s the same for all of the players who are here. That said, up until Aug. 31 anything can happen.”

On Mbappe, Zidane added: “I’m the coach here and you’d have to ask someone else about that. We’re working on things and we’ll see what happens. We’ve got the players who are here now and we’ll just have to see what happens.”

Courtney Dike and the prettiest women footballers in world football

Football is called the beautiful game and it is a sport most men would do anything for. But if there is anything they love more than football, it has to be beautiful women. Now, imagine absolutely beautiful women playing the beautiful game… Sounds like heaven, right?

Women football is reaching new heights and there are lot of beauties who are making it look even more special to watch. In no particular order, we present the ten best-looking female footballers in the world.

Greta Espinoza

If you ever visit Mexico and you hear screams of “Bonito” which translates to “Beautiful” in English, then know that Greta Espinoza is somewhere around the block. She has featured at every level for Mexico and only recently made her way into the national team. This twenty-two year old beauty is like your “next door crush’’ but don’t be fooled by her charm on the pitch as she doesn’t take prisoners in her centre back position.

Maria Coto

If you remember Carlos Santana’s famous song “Maria Maria”, well this Costa Rican hottie gives you an idea of what he was talking about. Costa Rica crashed out of the group stages at the last World Cup and a lot of people were disappointed not exactly because of the team but because they won’t get to see more of Maria Coto. Her smile is something out of heaven and those innocent eyes makes you want to forget there are over seven billion people in the world.

Alex Scott

You need a breather for the next player on our list. She plays as a right-back for Arsenal and England’s women national football team with over 100 appearances. She makes playing football look sexy and that is not speaking in literary terms.

With a perfect skin and an amazing smile, Alex Scott makes you believe in angels – if you don’t – then add the way her body moves on the ball, there is no doubt there has to be somewhere called paradise. She is a Gunner with the ability to win with her feet and capture with her looks.

Courtney Dike

Many considered Nigeria’s exploit at the last Fifa World Cup a failure but this dark beauty was a welcomed distraction from the disappointing performance from the ladies. The Nigerian forward had tongues waxing lyrical about her and she fully embodies what it means to be an African sweetheart. She is the “take home to mama” kind of lady and you probably would get a hug from your mama afterwards. Now, you know why you have to watch Super Falcons’ next game.

Christen Press

You would be forgiven if you thought the USA female team were beauty pageant contestants rather than a football team at the last Fifa World Cup. The Americans did not only dazzle the world with their football skills but also won our hearts with the number of beautiful women littered in the squad. Ranking top amongst the most beautiful is definitely Christen Press.

She hails from California, little wonder the Sun compliments this beauty during the day and at night she does the sparking. Not only does she know how to score goals by becoming the first American to receive a golden boot award in the Swedish women’s league, she also rocked the covers of the big magazines such as Sport Illustrated, Glamour, Self and Howlers.

Desiree Scott

Desiree Scott is not for the faint hearted, she will knock you off your perch with her smile if you’re not well positioned. This Canadian bombshell is just everything you can desire in a woman and her midfield position means she has enough skills to control your heart as well.

To catch Desiree Scott in action you have to watch a lot of the English female league as she plays for Notts County after a move from Kansas City in 2014. As much as there is beauty outside, there is also beauty within as she is an ambassador for the Homeless World Cup and runs a host of summer camp for kids.

Hope Solo

You’re safe in the hands of Solo on the pitch but not so much outside the pitch especially if you’re looking into those eyes of hers which could get old Greek mythology, Medusa jealous. The American shot-stopper is also a heart stopper and you could feel your heart skipping a few beats whenever Hope Solo is in view.

The 35-year-old is no stranger to being brilliant on the pitch with several accolades such as U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year 2009, FIFA Women’s World Cup Golden Glove: 2011, 2015, just to mention a few but away from the pitch, She is the poster girl of female football after featuring in several covers such as Body Issue of ESPN magazine, fitness and Sports Illustrated.

Hate to break your hearts but she is married to former American football player, Jerramy Stevens.

 Lauren Sesselmann

If blonde is your thing, she has got you fully wrapped and if blonde is not your thing, she still got your well wrapped. That is just how special this Canadian beauty is and we are pleased to have such a beauty playing the beautiful game.

Everything seems to shine about Lauren Sesselmann, right from her hair down to to her feet. She looks more of 18 than 33, stands at 5ft8 , endowed with a perfect physique that melts the eyes and heart at the same pace.

Lauren is a defender for the Canadian national team and it is no surprise why she is difficult to go past on the pitch but more difficult off the pitch because such a beauty doesn’t pass-by without you looking twice. Or more.

Alex Morgan

If anyone ever told you it gets any better than Alex Morgan, that is probably a lie because it doesn’t. Alex Morgan is just as beautiful as she was in the popular video game, FIFA 16. She was among the first women to appear on the cover of FIFA 16 alongside Lionel Messi in the US cover.

A Barcelona fan at heart, she is menace in front of goal for the USA national team as well as for the Portland Thorns in the American female league. She was given the nickname “Baby Horse” by her national team-mates due to her speed and running style but also off the pitch, she has stolen lot of hearts with her gorgeous look.

She has appeared on the cover of Sport Illustrated and ESPN’s magazine, and no need asking if she was perfect in those covers because she was born picture perfect. Just before you get your hopes up, Alex Morgan is married to Servando Carrasco, a soccer player as well.

Sydney Leroux

Where do we start from when it comes to Sydney Leroux, because she is the type that makes you speechless or stuttering your words at best. She is a footballing goddess with an enviable body for both the male and female gender.

A striker by position on the pitch, she knows a thing or two about penetration and that’s what makes Sydney Leroux such a joy to behold, and please note that we are still talking football right now.

She appeared in a semi-nude picture for an ESPN cover that leaves the mind in happy places and afterwards she said “I think a lot of females struggle with the way they look, and I wanted to show that everyone’s body is different. I think it’s a big deal to be an athlete and feel confident in your body and show it off. I’m not going to say I’ve never struggled with how I look, but I’ve reached a point in my life where I’m happy with who I am”. If this isn’t beauty, then what is?

Who amongst them do you consider the most beautiful and who did we leave out? Let us know!

Former Arsenal goalkeeper mentions where the Gunners should strengthen

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman says the Gunners need at least two more signings to be considered as title challengers and be able to win their top-four trophy back. The former England international believes Arsene Wenger needs a midfielder in the mould of Patrick Vieira and another centre-back.

“Arsenal need more players – more top-class players,” Seaman said.

“They’ve got Lacazette, which is a good signing, but I still think they need a couple more. Whether they are in the pipeline I don’t know.
“I think they need a central midfield player – a holding midfielder – a Patrick Vieira type midfield player. One with a lot of presence and strength, with the ability to control games like Patrick used to.
“Then maybe a centre-half. Mertesacker is coming back now – I watched him play last weekend, and he looked as good as ever. I don’t think he’ll ever look as good as he did in the FA Cup final, that was brilliant to watch, but with over 100 caps for Germany, we know he can play.”

Asked what would represent a successful season for Arsenal, and indeed Wenger, in 2017-18, Seaman said: “Winning a trophy is always a successful season. And being in the top four.

“For Arsenal to win the league, I feel they’re a few players short, looking at other squads. I think they just need a couple.
“They’ve been there or there abouts for a long time now but never been in with a really good chance in the last few weeks of the season – so adding a couple of players might change that.”

Arsenal are without a Premier League title since they won in the 2003-04 season.

AC Milan can’t afford Sanches – Fassone

Even as it seems they have enough money to buy a whole country, AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone said there are no negotiations for Renato Sanches due to Bayern Munich’s asking price, though they are willing to talk if the Bundesliga champions lower their demands.

“At this moment there are no negotiations,” Fassone said.

“Our rapport with [Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge is very good. We’ve discussed the situation a couple of times, but at this moment they have a valuation of the player that we are not prepared to match.

“If the situation changes in August, then we are here.”

Milan are reportedly keen on an initial two-year loan deal with the option to buy the Portugal international for €40million in 2019.

Mourinho: Pogba is at the same level with Messi and Neymar

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says Paul Pogba should be rated among the world’s elite, he says the French midfielder is at the same level with the likes of Messi and Neymar. Before you say the Portuguese coach is high on spoilt kunu, he also once compared Eden Hazard to Messi and Ronaldo when he was coach of Chelsea, what happened to Hazard next was a terrible season in which Mourinho got sacked. If it is in dancing and doing videos, we are sure Pogba ranks higher than anyone.

‘Messi and Neymar, there is only one Messi and one Neymar,’ Mourinho said. ‘Suarez, Iniesta, Pique, Ronaldo, Bale, Modric, Toni Kroos, there is only one, so they can only be playing for one club – we can’t have them, they belong to the clubs.
‘One of my players, Paul Pogba, showed the level and he belongs to that level.

‘There are players that are special players and there is nothing you can do. You try to compensate the difference in quality with a certain tactical organisation.
‘With that you can win in football it’s possible a team is in a certain day better than the sum of the parts that’s poss in football but the parts are amazing.
