Chelsea’s average age have suffered a great drop after Branislav Ivanovic sealed a move to Russian club Zenit st Petersburg.
Ivanovic, who many suspect could have been one of the authors of the bible, decided to move to Zenit after getting tired of seeing Antonio Conte’s behind from the bench this season. Despite the Serbian scoring a goal in Chelsea’s FA Cup pounding of Brentford, rumors of his departure intensified when he wasn’t invited to the join the trip to Anfield on Tuesday.
After arriving Russia, Ivanovic proceeded to saying what every footballer says when they arrive a new club and why Zenit is the biggest club since football was invented.
“I had a very big hope to come back to Russia and to play here. I am motivated and I think that I can play for many more seasons at the top level. I can say that I am excited to be here and everything went smoothly!”
When asked the position he would like to play (which should have been directed to his wife), Ivanovic says he is happy to take the job of everybody in the team.
I am happy just to play. I am happy in centre or on the right. That’s probably a question for the manager but I am happy to play in any position.”
Bench buddy, John Terry, already feeling his departure, paid tribute to Ivanovic on Instagram, whom he referred to as club legend which could be considered a disrespect due to the age difference between Ivanovic and Chelsea. Even the founding members of Chelsea would call Ivanovic ‘bros’.
“Absolutely gutted to see Brana leave [Chelsea]. An unbelievable defender for us over the years and a great and BIG character and presence in the dressing room. Good Luck mate. Won everything at Chelsea and a proper LEGEND.”
