Huddersfield vs Brighton

Huddersfield had an relatively easy game at home ten days ago when the team welcomed Ipswich and recorded much deserved 2:0 victory. They were better from the start, having much more of the ball possession and chances created, taking the lead in 41st minute via Brown, while Schindler doubled up the lead in 57th for the final result.

Players of Ipswich were limited to a pretty much defensive role and rarely did something in attack. Huddersfield is now at fifth position at the moment in Championship, having nine points less than second placed Newcastle United and that race seems to be finished, but the team needs to secure their play-off spot as they have only three points more than seventh placed Sheffield Wednesday and remain in a must win position. Last weekend the team took convincing 4:0 victory in FA Cup against Rochdale away from home.

Home team will be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Wells as central striker, plus Parra, Palmer and Kachunga as offensive midfielders. On-loan midfielder from Chelsea Kasey Palmer is back after sustaining a hamstring injury. Offensive midfielder Jack Payne (17/1) is suspended once again, while right midfielder Sean Scannell (11/0) remains injured.

Brighton, on the other side, took a narrow 1:0 home victory against Cardiff eight days ago in the previous Championship league match played. The game itself, was more interesting than what the final result says, as the home team looked better during the most of the game having much more of the ball possession, but also more chances created even though visitors from Cardiff also knew how to threaten.

Only goal was scored in 73rd minute via Hemed, while the visitors had not enough time to respond properly. This was fifth consecutive victory at home for Brighton, as the team bounced back after their defeat away to Preston with two home victories now (this one and previous against Sheffield Wednesday). They remain first at the table with two points more than Newcastle and five more than third placed Reading. Surprisingly, the team suffered 3:1 defeat against Lincoln City away from home in the FA Cup clash last weekend.

Visitors from Brighton are set to play in 4-4-2 formation with Hemed and Murray as strikers. New signing Chuba Akpom could be involved here, while right back Bruno and midfielder Dale Stephens are expected to feature coming from injuries. Left back Gaetan Bong (21/0) remains out with a knee injury, with right back Liam Rosenior (4/0) being unfit. Doubtful is forward Sam Baldock (21/6).

  • Brighton are undefeated in their last 9 matches against Huddersfield.

Actually, I expect goals from this one. Both teams are playing well lately and even though their defensive lineups are very reliable, but the odds are too good at this moment, while both teams have reasons to play openly this one. Huddersfield to defend their position and Brighton to remain at the direct promotional spot. Chances for over are at least close to break even in my eyes.
