Batern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti says Premier League teams will make the Champions League more competitive and difficult to win this season. The last Premier League team to win the Champions League was Chelsea in 2012 but the Italian gaffer believes the English clubs will do well this year. Perennial attendees, Arsenal are missing this year, meaning Bayern will be missing their regular and favorite customers.
‘The Champions League this year will be more competitive because there are some really important English teams in the competition,’ the Italian said.
‘United, City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool – I think, and I hope, for Jurgen [Klopp, Liverpool manager] to win qualification.
‘The Champions League will surely be more competitive and more difficult to win.’
Chelsea and Manchester United are both returning to Europe’s biggest stage, and they could be joined by Liverpool if they win their play-off later this month.
