Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has vowed to fight for his place to remain as Real Madrid’s number one despite rumors of Madrid’s search for a new number one. Zinedine Zidane is rumoured to be looking for a star name to fill the jersey, with Gianluigi Donnarumma, David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois all heavily linked.
He almost left the club in 2015 in a swap deal with Manchester United for David de Gea, the deal fell through at the last minute as his mothers in Costa rica were up to the task of making sure a fax machine didn’t work.
The Costa rican golie , however, will not give up his place in the starting XI of the European champions without a fight.
‘I’m very calm, really. I focus on what I can do, which is to work, to strive and to try to keep my position in the team.
‘I will always fight to the death against whatever, a real fight. Whatever happens I am going to give everything, as always.’
He has kept his place as first choice since 2015, helping Madrid to two Champions League titles.
