John Terry joins Championship team

Former England national team captain John Terry has signed for Championship side Aston Villa. The former Chelsea captain had been in search of a new club since agreeing with Chelsea that his 22 years at the club had come to an end late last season, after spending most of the season warming the bench.
Villa owner and chairman Dr Tony Xia confirmed the Chelsea legend’s arrival on Monday morning, tweeting: ‘Welcome JT to Birmingham city…Aston Villa! #UTV! @AVFCOfficial Announcement shortly!’

In signing for Aston Villa, Terry is set to play for the third English club of his career — and all three have won the European Cup. He spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest in 2000.

Villa finished 13th in the Championship last season, a year on from their relegation from the Premier League.
