Former Arsenal striker joins Japanese club

Former Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has joined Japanese club Vissel Kobe from Turkish club Galatasaray, as he continues a steady career journey that might see him join Osaze Odemwingie in Indonesia soon.

The ex-Arsenal striker took to Instagram to post a photo of himself in his new club’s kit, accompanied by the caption: ‘The beginning of my next chapter.’

In March Podolski posted a photo of himself lifting up two flares wearing the Galatasaray home shirt with the message: ‘I can confirm that at the end of this season I will join Vissel Kobe from the J-League in Japan. It’s not a decision against Galatasaray.
‘It’s a decision I made for a new challenge, and I will explain more when the time is right. But right now my only focus is helping Galatasaray and our fantastic fans.’

Podolski made 130 appearances for Germany, scoring 49 goals – he also previously played for FC Koln (twice), Bayern Munich and Inter on loan.
