Former Argentina captain Diego Maradona says Argentina is screwed and the Albicelestes aspirations to play at the 2018 World Cup is in doubt with Lionel Messi suspended. Messi was handed a four match ban for hauling verbal insults at a match official. It seems Maradona does not believe in the abilities of the other players, including son-in-law Sergio Aguero. It is left for the other players to prove that they are not just a bunch of body parts that can’t function without the engine.
“We are screwed,” he said.
“Without Messi, qualification is doubtful.”
Messi served the first of his suspension when the Albicelestes suffered a 2-0 loss to Bolivia, leading to coach Edgardo Bauza being sacked.
