Former Manchester United player says De Gea is second best to Schmeichel

Just like they held on to sixth position for a long time on the Premier League table this season, Manchester United should hold on to David De Gea, says former Red devil – Andrei Kanchelskis. According to Kanchelski, De Gea is the second best goalkeeper in the history of the Manchester club, behind Peter Schmeichel. According to him, De Gea will have a big problem without De Gea. For a club that has been blessed with goalkeepers like Massimo Taibi and Roy Carroll, De Gea must rank among the best.

“After Peter Schmeichel, David de Gea is the best goalkeeper in Manchester United’s history.

“For me, it’s Peter Schmeichel number one, David De Gea number two. He’s one of the best they’ve ever had.

“If De Gea left, Manchester United would have a big, big problem.

“He’s an excellent goalkeeper. He plays a huge role for the team and the defence.”

The Spanish goalkeeper continues to be heavily linked with a return to his homeland at Real Madrid. A transfer to the Spanish capital failed at the very last minute in 2015 due to paperwork issues.
