Dortmund comes from quite a busy schedule and actually three difficult matches in last ten days, but the team remains once again in a must win situation. They first lost the quarter-finals game of Champions League on the road to Monaco, but then answered back with a important three pointer in Bundesliga last weekend away to Gladbach with a 3:2 victory.
It was a very interesting match where the visiting side deserved their three points, however the things didn’t go that simply – they did took the lead in tenth minute from a penalty kick taken by Reus, but Stindl leveled up before the halftime whistle and an own goal from the players of Gladbch at the start of the second half. However, visitors found a way to fight back and sealed the victory thanks to goals from Aubameyang and Guerreiro. In quite similar scenario, but even more difficult game and opponent, they managed to progress into the finals of German Cup of Wednesday evening, when the team surprisingly won over Bayern in Munich with the same 3:2 result. As for the Bundesliga table, they are third with just a point more than fourth placed Hoffenheim and remain in a must win position as said.
Central defender Marc Bartra (25/1) continues to recover from surgery, while injured remain midfielders Sebastian Rode (15/1), Nuri Sahin (8/1), offensive Mario Gotze (11/1) and forward Andre Schurrle (15/2).

Koln, on the other side, comes from a point taken last weekend as the team took a draw in a 1:1 game in front of own fans against Hoffenheim. The game itself was quite open with both teams playing offensively and even though the equalizing goal from Hoffenheim came in third minute of additional tie via Demirbay, but was a fair outcome in the end.
On the other hand, home side was the first one to take the lead, in 58th minute via Bittencourt, as the visitors looked much better in the first halftime, but the home team responded well in the repetition. Even though this wasn’t a negative result against a strong side, players of Koln remained now without a victory in last three, previously losing to Augsburg and Gladbach. The team is now at eight position, still with European chances as they remain just three points below sixth placed Freburg.
Midfielder Konstantin Rausch remains with muscular problem and won’t be playing here most likely. Injured and out are also forward Sehrou Guirassy (6/0), offensive midfielder Simon Zoller (22/1) and midfielder Marcel Risse (13/2).
- Borussia Dortmund are undefeated in their last 35 home matches (Bundesliga).
Both teams come into this match with a must win situation, but I see players of Dortmund being in much better momentum and form, with excellent quality in attack. Home team might be a bit more tired, but they are now fully focused on their Bundesliga duties and should be able to overcome the opponent without problems towards the end.
