Chelsea is coming into this Premier League match after an impressive performance in FA Cup last Saturday evening when the team won over Tottenham in semi-finals of that competition with a 4:2 result. In some way they really proved that the team is one of the best in the country and now need to do the job in Premiership as well.
It was a pretty open game with lots of offensive effort from both sides, while the Spurs had more of the ball possession, but the Blues have shown themselves much more concrete in the final effort. They took the lead in fifth already via Willian and even though Kane leveled up in 18th, Willian scored second one in 43rd. Alli temporarily equalized in 52nd, but the Blues were way more concrete in last phase, sealing the victory thanks to goals from Hazard and Matic. They will be playing in the big finals against Arsenal, while the side remains first in Premier League, having four points more than second placed Tottenham and need to get a victory here in front of own fans against the Saints.
Hazard and Pedro should be on the wings, plus Costa as central striker, most likely in some kind of 3-4-3 formation. Central defender Gary Cahill is doubtful due illness, while offensive Willian has some problems too, but should be fine to start.

Southampton, on the other side, had a break this weekend and the team had a lot of time to prepare for this one, since their previous game was played on 15th April, when the team welcomed Manchester City and actually didn’t have plenty of chances to respond and get a positive result, suffering 0:3 defeat that day.
They stood well in the defense at first and the Citizens couldn’t create real chances, but once the visitors stood up and increased the pressure in the second half, it was easy for them to reach the victory thanks to goals from Kompany in 55th, Sane in 77th and Aguero in 80th minute, while the Saints almost didn’t threaten during the game. The side is safely placed at ninth position now, having nine points more than relegating struggling Swansea.
Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy remains long term absentee, while injured are also central defender Virgil van Dijk (21/1), left back Sam McQueen (13/0). Left back Matt Targett and forward Charlie Austin remain probably unfit for this one. Visitors are set to play in 4-3-3 formation, with Redmond, Gabbiadini and Boufal as forwards most likely.
- Chelsea have won 11 of their last 12 home matches (Premier League).
Chelsea comes now from a morale boosting victory against the Spurs and I don’t see them slipping in front of their own fans since the team is in a title battle, while the visiting side anyway has less of individual quality and coming here with way less competitive motive.
