According to former Barcelona midfielder- Xavi Hernandez, Pep Guardiola will bid to sign Dele Alli during the summer transfer window. Manchester City are expected to make another foray into the transfer market in the summer as Guardiola’s first season in England will end without a silverware after the Citizens lost to Arsenal in the semi-final of the FA Cup. Guardiola’s struggles in England supports those who have posited that he needs star names to perform and will not will another Champions League till he re-unites with Messi. With almost all of his impressive records smashed on his shining head since he arrived in the Premier League.
“I speak to Pep and I know he thinks it’s important to sign English players,” Xavi said. “I’m certain that this summer he will look all over Europe to get players to improve the team. For the time being there is one English player who is one of the best in Europe and that is Dele Alli.
“He is a very special player. Technically, he is the type of player that Pep likes, the type of player that adapts to the style of play that Pep likes for his teams.
“I’m certain that Tottenham will not let him leave but we know that Manchester City have great resources.”
Alli, 21, was this week named the PFA Young Player of the Year for a second successive season. He has scored 20 goals in 44 matches this season
